MY POSTPARTUM BODY IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY

MY POSTPARTUM BODY IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Tatiana Cheremnykh

Being a MOM means a lot. Go to any social media platform. You will see this perfect polished picture of a successful, absolutely gorgeous woman with three kids who easily runs three businesses and is just so successful that I always feel so miserable because I do not have three kids because two is already overwhelming. I cannot run even one business properly because I have one year old who needs me all the time. I cook breakfast, lunch and dinner myself, which takes a good junk of the time. I clean the house myself, shop for the entire family, do laundry, do homework with my elder son, and other thousands of things every day. I do not look perfect and barely did one photoshoot.

I will lie if I say I do not want to look better, slimmer, and more attractive than a ponytail on my head that I am wearing every day. Everyone wants that, but real life is slightly different from any social platform.

I realized that an unhappy mother and always an unhappy wife would not be a part of my family. I will always have a mother’s guilt, and the house will never be immaculate, but again, it would not bring me much health! I realize that my body is not just my responsibility; IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY – mine and my husband’s. If he wants to see me slim and beautiful again, he must participate in the process. I have to arrange only one thing – A TIME SLOT JUST FOR ME! Many women will confess that they are even going to the toilet with their babies, which is true! I am one of those. The reality is that you are not alone in this.

Yes, you heard me correctly – my husband was dedicated to the process. We sat together and did a scheduler. We had chosen four days (at the beginning) where he took kids for 1 hour so that I could exercise and then take a shower ALONE. Again, it should not be an hour; it could be 30 or 40 minutes. It all depends on your current health and if you had a C-section or not.

A story that starts with “My husband or I do not have 30 minutes” will not be accepted! You have to start somewhere. It is not just your body, it is your health, and I won’t list all of the benefits that 30 minutes workout will give you, physical and mental. Just google it.

Essential oils will come into play as well. It will motivate you, push you, and give you additional support. Here are some top oils that helped me at that time:

Peppermint essential oil (Mentha × piperita):

Peppermint can help you get in touch with your subconscious and the deep inner feelings you have for yourself and others. Use peppermint to sort out feelings. It also helps absorb and process what needs to be integrated to be able to move forward with enthusiasm. Peppermint is excellent to help drive away depressive thoughts and feelings.

Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis):

Orange is enlivening and brings joy but is also provides the energy of relaxation and calmness. It calms the nerves and keeps the focus on joy and confidence. Orange also helps release fears and worries at at bedtime. Allow this oil to bring comfort and ease into your life.

Lemon essential oil (Citrus x limon):

Use lemon oil in synergistic blend to help raise your spirits. Lemon helps when you are recovering from the blues as it aids in releasing the symptoms of depression. The golden energy of this oil can help dissipate whatever challenges or negative emotion is blocking your way to happiness.

Jasmine essential oil (Jasminum sambac):

Jasmine increases the courage you need to embrace the magnificent person you truly are. Jasmine is said to activate endorphins, bringing about feelings of well-being and euphoria.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis):

Rosemary is beneficial for deflecting negativity and jealousy. Use it to help clear out negative emotions and paranoia. Rosemary is useful for healing emotions by encouraging them to come to the surface. Rosemary will help release outdated beliefs, and balance karma.

You can use essential oils separately or mix them (2-3 oils); it all depends on which smell you like. I strongly recommend starting with one oil. Later, you can do the following blends and use in your personal inhaler:

GET UP & GO BLEND

Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) 10 drops
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) 6 drops
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) 4 drops

ONE LOVE BLEND:

Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) 5 drops
Lemon (Citrus x limon) 5 drops
Lime (Citrus x aurantifolia) 5 drops
Vanilla (Vanila planifolia) 4 drops

P.S. I would like to share with you two of my pictures. The first one was the day when my second son was born. The picture is one and a half years later. I DID IT! I am back to my size 6! I did a photo shoot for my husband as a reward for hard work – watching kids when I am working out 🙂 and I am slowly on track going back to a full-time job!
